Keratin smoothing

Our keratin smoothing service works to tame your frizz, giving your hair a smooth, glossy finish. Powered by silk technology to replenish amino acids in your hair, Kerasilk infuses your hair with hyaluronic acid to moisturise and protect its surface. This helps to control and refine your hair, for a ‘do that is easy to style, silky-smooth and frizz-free.

By reducing the need to straighten or blow-dry your hair, keratin smoothing can help you cut down on your daily styling time, making this treatment an ideal low-maintenance look.

Kerasilk FAQs

Does Kerasilk straighten hair?

While traditional keratin smoothing treatments leaned towards softening the hair until it is poker-straight, Kerasilk can help you keep your natural wave, without losing any of your volume. Rather than straightening your hair, Kerasilk shampoo removes any frizz and flyaways, giving you a silkier overall look.

Your hair won’t lose its curl pattern; your locks will just appear sleeker and softer. During your consultation, the stylist will help determine how you want your locks to look once it has been smoothed.

What’s the difference between Kerasilk and keratin?

Kerasilk blends strengthening keratin with silk proteins, which work together to bond your hair. Whereas traditional keratin treatments can’t be washed out of your hair for 3 days to allow the product to set, Kerasilk is shampooed and rinsed in the salon, meaning you can instantly achieve silky-smooth hair.

Kerasilk can also be customised depending on your hair type, so you can reduce frizz without impacting your natural curl pattern.

How long does a Kerasilk treatment last?

Keratin smoothing can last between 3-5 months, depending on your natural hair texture, and how well you maintain your hair once you’ve had the service. To keep your hair smooth and soft, use sulphate-free shampoos, and try not to let your hair come into contact with chlorine or saltwater.

When can I wash my hair after Kerasilk?

Unlike traditional keratin smoothing, you can wash and style your hair immediately after having Kerasilk applied. However, we recommend going 2 or 3 days without washing your hair once you leave the salon – remember, your hair will be washed, conditioned and dried during the keratin smoothing service, so you won’t feel like you’ll need to rewash your locks straight away.

Can you colour your hair after Kerasilk?

We advise waiting to colour your hair until at least 2 weeks post-keratin smoothing. Because Kerasilk coats your hair with a protective layer, applying colour to your locks too soon after the service could leave you with uneven, patchy hair. Talk to your stylist if you have any questions about achieving your ideal colour.
